About QwickLoad

My name is V. Ray Gooch, P.E.

As owner and developer of QwickLoad Software I would like to make this contact somewhat more personal by giving you a short profile. After retiring as a practicing HVAC Design Engineer I developed the HVAC Software (for Commercial Building Load Calculations). I sincerely hope you will download and try it.

I am a graduate Texas A&M University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I became a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas by examination in 1977.

For many years I worked as Vice President of Engineering for Gooch Packing Co., Inc. located in Abilene,Texas. Gooch Packing was a 'full-line' meat packing firm which had about 1200 tons of primarily Ammonia-based Refrigeration. I am thankful for the Refrigeration experience and for being able to attend Will Stoecker classes at the University of Illinois during that time.

Unfortunately after a presence of 45 years in Abilene as a major employer, Gooch Packing Co. closed down in 1990. I have since worked for two Consulting Engineering firms, both located in Abilene, and have been self-employed since 1998.

I joined ASHRAE in 1997. With my work in HVAC, and since I love to program, the temptation to develop a load calculation program was just too great. So here we are.

I have been happily married for 33 years now. We are just on threshold of having 'senior moments' in our pre-golden years. Sometimes I get senior discounts on sight but still don't qualify for medicare.

I am a Viet Nam veteran having served in the United States Navy on the destroyer U.S.S. GOLDSBOROUGH DDG-20. It was in 1967 GOLDSBOROUGH participated in "Operation Sea Dragon", designed to interdict the North Vietnamese lines of supply into the Republic of Vietnam, and provided Naval Gunfire Support along the DMZ. During this deployment GOLDSBOROUGH fired nearly 10,000 rounds in support of allied forces and avoided over 800 rounds of hostile fire without damage to the ship. She was awarded the Naval Unit Commendation for exceptionally meritorious service in Vietnamese waters from 29 August 1967 to 17 February 1968 upon her return to Pearl.

I hope this acquaints you with this 'Texas Aggie' a little better. If you wish to write, QwickLoad Software is located at 697 Westwood Drive; Abilene, Texas 79603. We would welcome your correspondence or e-mail.
